Brine Fermented Vegetable Workshop

Live-Cultured Pickles: Once and Future Food

by Master Pickler - Bill Hettig

Saturday, Feb. 18th, 10 a.m. in Orlando

Learn the secrets of no-cook, brine pickles: dill pickles, pickled peppers, and other pickled veggies.  You will discover there is no better source of daily supplements than found in common vegetables, sea salt, and water—transformed into pickles.  You will be amazed how easy it has become to make traditional brine pickles.  Great grandma's pickles are back with a new fashioned kitchen gadget!  Take home everything you need to start pickling for life.  These pickles contain the rich probiotics NOT found in canned pickles, whose heat process destroys valuable nutrients.  Learn to make the most nutritious pickles at their healthiest and tastiest!

Learn about making pickles with local produce using brine pickling method and take home your own Perfect Pickler.  Includes comprehensive instruction for organizing the kitchen and to become an accomplished brine pickler.  Recipes are included and Bill's blog will keep you updated with news and recipes.  You will go home with a fresh batch of your own brine pickles.

Bill Hettig has been a whole foods cooking instructor in Winter Park for over 20 years and has lectured extensively in the Southeast and the country.

Inspiring a renaissance in home economics within simple living styles has been Bill's special passion.

It is recommended to pre-register as spots are limited.  Please bring a 1-quart wide mouth mason-style canning jar (we will have extras on hand if you can't find one).  A great place to find single jars is Miller Hardware, on Orlando Ave., Winter Park, across from Rollins main entrance.

Bill will be at the Dong-A grocery down the street (706 N Mills Ave. OrlandoFL 32803) at 9:30 to browse some of the unique Asian vegetables that can add flair to your pickles; feel free to join him for a 20 minute store tour, followed by class starting promptly in our classroom at 10 am.

You will be going home with a jar of your own pickle recipe!
